With effort and perseverance, two Peruvian ladies have successfully gained the recognition from the British and the Latin American community.
Mary Luz Valverde Trujillo has become the first Latin American accredited to be headmaster in a British school thanks to her vast experience as a teacher and high positions in schools in the United Kingdom. She was born in Barrios Altos, Lima, and worked as biologist in Peru, Japan and other countries before coming to the UK to work as Science teacher. She writes for a Latin American electronic newspaper and is a member of the ‘Consejo de Consulta Peruano’.
Anni Bazán de Fisher has been recognized by the Peruvian government in the ‘Day of the Peruvians living abroad’, ceremony held last October in Lima, for her efforts in promoting Peruvian and Latin American cultures in the UK. Bazán de Fisher lives in Birmingham and has been an active actor in the promotion of Peru through the creation of a folkloric group and organization of events such as the Latin American Festival in Birmingham, which was founded in 1992.
